MY SYNOPSIS
This is a practical guide for anything a girl needs to know in order to succeed on her way to adulthood. You learn simple steps to accomplish tasks that go from saving money to kicking a soccer ball.
MY REVIEW
I have mixed feelings about this one.
First of all, I believe the concept of the book is great. There are practical tips that take into consideration what challenges girls can find along the way. Many of them are going to feel relieved once they realize they’re not alone in their doubts and struggles. I loved most of the quotes, and I recognize some issues mentioned are very important to address as soon as possible.
However, I can’t say I agree with everything I read or that I’d give the same advices to girls.
The step-by-step instructions were fun at first, but then it was clear to me that most topics were developed in a very shallow way. They didn’t go as deep as they should have, so I’m not sure how helpful they can be.
Also, I don’t think this book captures the readers’ interest long enough so they can actually finish it. It’s reasonable to assume that, after some chapters, girls might skip those that don’t talk about an issue they’re dealing with at the moment.
To sum up, I really liked the general idea of the book, but I didn’t see the final product as the useful tool for girls I had expected. I think they could have focused on fewer topics in order to go deeper in the most relevant ones.
