MY SYNOPSIS
Ryan and Abby got divorced 3 and a half years ago in not very friendly terms.
Now they’ve been invited to the 35th-anniversary party of Abby’s parents, who don’t know they’re not married anymore.
So, they’ll pretend they are still a couple for a whole weekend, perfect chance for Ryan to win her wife back.
MY REVIEW

Generally speaking, I liked it and had a good time while reading.
I found this book very similar to «A time to dance» by Karen Kingsbury.
At the beginning, the story seemed light and sweet but as I got into it I realized how complicated the whole situation really was for Ryan and Abby. Nothing simple about it.
Lack of communication, unresolved issues from the past, grief and distrust had a way to ruin their marriage and let so little space for hope and restauration.
I like reading this kind of books because I feel I’m learning from other’s mistakes in marriage so I don’t repeat them in the future.
On this particular story I got that It’s very important we know ourselves and things we struggle with and let our partner see it too. Communication and a strong relationship with the Lord are needed as well in a good marriage.
The two more important lessons I learned were:
1) Sometimes we want to solve things and keep trying and trying to make things right but after we’ve done our part, we need to back off and let God deal with it.
2) We receive the treatment we think we deserve. This point is more developed at the end because is a huge thing for Abby’s healing.
I understood we all need God’s love and grace to show us what we really deserve in Him so we don’t take any less than that no matter what.
On the not so positive side, I must say that Ryan annoyed me sometimes. He was so… umm… persistent? Did that sound good? I hope so.
There were moments I wanted to have a face-to-face conversation with him and tell him «leave the girl alone…please, I’m begging you».
Thank God he had a Daniel for it, what makes me highlight the importance of good friends in our lives that tells us what we need to hear when we get stubborn with our ideas. You see this in the story.
Also, I had to mention that physical attraction had a huge part on Ryan and Abby’s reconciliation process. It was truly a big deal for them. Personally, I didn’t feel comfortable with that at moments but they used to be married…so, it may be the normal thing to happen.
Basically this book’s very well-written, story is nice, it’s really easy to read, characters are well-developed and dialogues are good. Very helpful to learn about the married life.
Now I really want to read the first book in this series, even though I was so spoiled by this one that I think there will be no surprises for me there.
