Some weeks ago, I wanted to post something on Instagram I was not so sure about. A quote I liked but a part of it bothered me a little.
I did post it and when I got my first «likes», I got relieved. But then I thought, does people liking it mean this is right?
Of course not. If that’s our indicator of «right» and «wrong» in life, no wonder why this world is so messed up.
Truth is: no matter what you post, what you think, what you do, someone will agree with you.
That’s a fact.
You won’t be alone forever. Someone will clap or nod in your direction because of what you said.
You’ll be supported, you’ll be cheered on in life whether you’re truly right or not.
If you stop to listen to those who approve your behavior, you’ll never have a reason to be ashamed. No matter what you do.
Don’t believe me? Ask Hitler. Ask hundreds of men and women who continue to do whatever they’re doing because of others’ support.
There will be people who judge you, count on it, but you won’t lack fans either.
Read it again: no matter what you do, at least one person will agree.
Dangerous, isn’t it?
“Why?”, you ask.
Simple.
It means you can’t trust people’s approval to tell you what’s right. You can’t blindly trust others’ likes or words of encouragement.
Even if everyone supports you, you might be making a huge mistake.
What do we do then? Who can we trust?
God.
His word.
His conviction in our hearts.
And, very often, the advice of people who love God more than they love us will help too.
Don’t deceive yourself into thinking that what you’re doing, posting or deciding it’s fine just because people agree with you.
Let’s be better than that.
Let’s focus on God and what He sees right even if the rest of the world does not aplaude us for it.
He’s the One that really matters, right, Kari?
Bravo! This was very well said!
Not that you needed MY approval. 😉

I truly appreciate it, though! 😀 😀

🙂 Of course! It DOES feel nice to have people agree with you though. In this case, you were spot on.
Forgive the blog link in on your blog post, but I ran across this one last week and I think it’s something you’ll enjoy. It’s about how to handle the negative feedback when it comes. It’s very freeing. Between your message and this one, I’m feeling pretty good. 🙂

«What if the rhythm to the creative life is: Create! Call it good! Rest!»
I’m changed forever after this!
Thanks for sharing!
