Conversations are boring because people don’t say
what they really want to.
I read somewhere
As a reader I have to admit some stories are so frustrating since there’s a whole mess keeping people away from perfect happiness just because they refuse to confess something, share a secret or simply say what they really think about a specific issue.
I find myself thinking over and over: “if you had opened your mouth to speak your heart, everything would be solved by now”.
“It’s fiction”, you tell me.
Is it?
I wonder how many things in live we refuse to say because of fear or shame or lack of time, things that wide in the open could save us a lot of trouble and heartache.
We wait for the perfect moment.
We let time pass.
We figure it is not a big deal so it’d be better not to bring it up.
Nothing said. Nothing done.
I get it when people warns you to be careful with what you say, but I just want to encourage you to be careful with those things you don’t say. Both are equally dangerous.
It could happen that you’re letting fears, feelings or time stand between you and things you need to bring to the light:
“I don’t like this”
“I want to do it another way”
“I was wrong. I’m sorry”
“I miss you”
“I love you”
“I don’t like how I feel about this but I….”
People can’t read your mind. You need to let them know what’s going on in there.
I’m just saying conversations… why, life could be way more exciting if were more honest. People might understand us better. Broken relationships could be restored.
God’s healing process might have a way to get to us if we let hidden things in our hearts find that person’s ears.
Seek wisdom and love and God’s guidance and then ask Him for the courage to send that message, write that email, speak those words you know have to.
It might be things get out of control for a moment but that’d be nice comparing it to the burden of remaining silent when you have a thing or two to say.
You’ll be amazed by realizing that it was not as horrible as you thought, or maybe that it was, but at least you’ll experience the relief of dealing with it in the light.
So, take a chance. Say it!
I’ll bet you’ll be thankful for it.
