Angry, angry

Three weeks ago I was mad.

Mad at everything for no reason whatosever.

Hormonal day, they call it.

I just wanted to fight and say ugly things to the first person that could give a reason for it.

Angry. Angry. Angry.

I begged God to help me because, really, I had no desire in me to pretend I was happy.

You know, there are moments when you can hide your feelings and fake your smile, but that day I had no energy for it.

“What a way to start the month”, I thought.

I went to the bathroom, cried to God for a miracle that improved my horrible mood.

But nothing happened… right away.

Minutes later, someome asked me for help. I reluctantly agreed, even though I had promised myself not to say a word to another human being for the rest of the day.

When we finished, I was walking away when the person told me: “thank you, Natacha, I’m always learning from you”.

What?

C’mon, don’t be nice to me when I want to slap everyone, including you!

Let’s have a fight! Don’t let me down by being so sweet!

I didn’t deserve a compliment! I didn’t deserve anyone treating me well. I just wanted to punch them in the eye.

Then, my moody day was completely ruined because I sincerely smiled at the moment.

That person said something good to me and, somehow, it did make me feel better.

I won’t say I began to dance around the hall because, you know, I’m flesh and blood and this is real life, but it helped.

Suddenly, I remembered a proverb in the Bible that says:

A gentle answer turns away wrath

Proverbs 15:1 (NIV)

It does. I was there when it happened.

And now that I’m feeling better the question for me is clear: 

Who could I give a gentle answer to? 

Who could you?

That person that is angry today? 

Maybe she only needs some love and a word of encouragement to make his day a lot better. 

I’m in the hopes we are the ones God uses to turn away some wrath from people around us and make them smile, for real.
